To celebrate Women’s History Month, every Monday and Friday during the month of March, we’re highlighting just some of the many women that are a crucial part of NCFIT. Today, we highlight Shadeh. Shadeh is the operations manager for NCFIT’s corporate locations. She started as an intern in 2015 and has worked for NCFIT ever since. In her free time, you can catch Shadeh snowboarding on slopes or looking for her next adventure outdoors.
Strength is not defined by physical feats, but by courage.
Fear of failure or the unknown often keeps us from reaching our potential, and strength is the courage to overcome this fear.
Andre Gide said, “Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.”
I lost sight of my shore when I moved to the United States at the age of 19. It wasn’t easy; I didn't know what to expect and I was scared of failing. I thought about going back to my comfort zone, to where I belonged with my family and friends. But I had a goal: I came to the United States to create a meaningful and fulfilling future. Though the fear of leaving Iran was immense, the fear of not reaching my potential was much greater. That said, the United States presented my first opportunity to fail.
A MONTH AFTER ARRIVING IN THE STATES, MY FAMILY MOVED BACK TO IRAN. I WAS ALONE AND AFRAID.
It would have been easier to give up and go home, but I knew, somehow, that’d be more painful than the process of overcoming this obstacle.
If you want to achieve a goal in your life you have to push yourself out of your comfort zone and be ready to fail.
When you put yourself out there, don't get disappointed if you fail — sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. The key is to not let the fear of failure stop you from getting a step closer to achieving your goals.
Fear is the thief of joy. Fear is the thief of opportunity. Fear prevents you from taking steps forward.
I FEARED FAILING, BUT I REALIZED I FEARED STAYING COMFORTABLE MORE. THE GOAL IS NOT TO EVADE FAILURE, BUT TO FAIL OFTEN, FAIL FORWARD, AND FAIL WITHOUT FEAR.
If failure isn’t a possibility, you’re not dreaming big enough or pushing hard enough.
In the face of failure, I MAKE WAVES.
