Step Up & Take the #EOE40 Challenge

At NCFIT, we believe in “Effort Over Everything.” And our #EOE40 Challenge is just that: an all-in effort to jumpstart your fitness, nutrition, productivity, and accountability. For the next 40 days, it’s time to put our effort where our mouth is.

So what can you really do in 40 days? A lot, actually. But we also know that 40 days won’t be enough. And it’s not meant to be. The #EOE40 Challenge is meant to be a test of your effort, resolve, and personal accountability. Simply, can you hack it at 100% compliance for 40 days? Or, do you bend, budge, or break when it gets “hard.”

More than a test, #EOE40 is meant to be the START: The start of new habits, new outlooks, new attitudes, and new effort that you put into your life. Yes, it’ll take a measure of discipline to complete #EOE40 because if you step outside the lines (even a little bit), you’ve missed the mark.

We want you to hold yourself to that standard—can you go 40-for-40? But more importantly than the “perfect 40” will be what you learn about yourself and what you carry into the future. The #EOE40 Challenge starts on Day 1, and although it technically ends on Day 40, that’s actually when it really just begins.

THE #EOE40 BASICS

The Timeframe

The #EOE40 Challenge launches on Monday, January 10. It goes for a total of 40 days — not one less, not one more. In order to achieve a successful challenge, you cannot miss a day or a task.

You Must Go 40-for-40

In order to achieve a successful challenge, you CANNOT miss a day, much less miss a task. Tasks can’t be carried over and days can’t be made up. Each task of the day’s tasks must be completed in that day’s 24-hour period. Remember, we’re pushing ourselves to a new level for 40 days, so nothing less than 100% is acceptable. So, if you happen to miss a task or a day, you must start over at Day 1.

The Four Must-Do’s of the Challenge

1. Workout Every Day for at Least 40 Minutes
All forms of fitness DO COUNT, and you can do it all in one session or combine smaller sessions to reach the 40-minute mark. Workouts don’t need to be intense each day (we want you to work hard and encourage you to push yourself), but walking, hiking, rucking, and even sauna and cold plunges count. Massage, meditation, or naps DO NOT COUNT. We suggest you follow the NCFIT App for daily workouts and check the #EOE40 Challenge Rulebook (included when you join the challenge) for acceptable forms of fitness.

2. Follow a Nutrition Plan That Controls Both Quality & Quantity
For any nutrition plan that you follow, you must choose one or more elements that control or refine both the quality and quantity of your nutrition. These elements can be as strict or as lenient as you want them to be; however, you must place at least one control for both quality and quantity. You get to decide, but once you do, you must stay locked in for the duration of the challenge.

For examples of what lenient and strict nutrition quantity and quality controls, and for some helpful nutrition tips, refer to the #EOE40 Challenge Rulebook.

3. Wake Up 40 Minutes Before Your Normal Waking Time
There are three ways to implement this, but you must choose your method before #EOE40 kicks off: 1) Pick an average wake-up time for all seven days of the week and wake up 40 minutes before that time; 2) Pick one wake-up time for weekdays and another for weekends and wake up 40 minutes before each time; and 3) Pick a wake-up time for each day of the week and wake up 40 minutes before each of those times.

Once you pick your method and your times, you must comply with it 100%. You can wake up earlier than your time; however, you cannot wake up later.

4. End Your Day with a Completely Clean Sink
Before you go to bed each night, make sure your sink is empty and all of your dishes, pots, and pans are clean and put away. No dishes should be left soaking in the sink or out on your stove or counter. Bonus: If you’re on Instagram, snap a picture of your clean sink, post it to your stories, and tag it with @nc.fit and #EOE40.

5. Take Progress Photos
On Day 1, Day 10, Day 20, Day 30, and Day 40, take three photos (front, side, and back) in whatever workout attire or bathing attire you’re comfortable in. You can take more pictures if you’d like, but 15 total photos are required for completion of the #EOE40.

Note that these pictures are for you and you alone. However, if you’d like to share them on social media, tag them with @nc.fit and #EOE40.
