the challenge

This article was written in Jan 2020...little did we know that only a few weeks later some of us might have coached our last class. While the article has aged, the message has not. Coach every class like it might be your last...
Well, 2020 is here ladies & gents! Happy & healthy new year to everyone. Collectively, we've come a long way in 2019 as a coaching outfit. And if you can remember back to 2018...it almost seems like the dark ages. I'm sure in a few years we will be sitting here thinking of how far we've come since 2020. But let's not dwell on the past or daydream about the future. Let's be here, now, and present. Stop thinking about where you ought to be or where you used to be and JUST BE. The quickest way to derail your progress toward any goal is to take the present for granted. And that my friends...is the challenge.
HERE IT IS, FOLKS...
Kicking off 2020, my challenge to you is to coach every class as if it were your last. This is easy to say but much harder to do. This requires effort, focus, and concentration. It requires you to let go of the near or distant past and the near or distant future. It requires you to be unambiguously present. No if-s, and-s, or but-s about it. You simply are giving your all to every class as if it were the last class you were to coach. There's tremendous power in that state of ultimate presence, and my hope is that you get to experience that powerful state of being.

"Live every day like it's your last." We've all heard that before. But that sentiment can be applied to everything we do...our lives, our work, our workouts, our relationships. It's probably not really possible to live every day like it's your last but that's not the point.
The point is to TRY to tap into that mindset and be present. Let the present moment be the most important moment. This is especially true with "work". A lot of times we are thinking of 10,000 other things instead of what we are actually doing. But as we've mentioned so many times before, how you do anything is how you do everything. So, when you are taking the floor to coach your next class...treat it like it's your last class.
Give it everything you've got. If you're able to do that even just a little bit more, you will be amazed at how the quality of your coaching, presence, and attitude will improve. Let's get after it!
