Hitting a PR can make you feel like a superhero, but have you ever stopped to think about how fitness affects your mental health more than just the post-workout endorphins — although those are pretty great, too!
There’s actually science behind the great impacts exercise can have on your happiness, confidence, and stress levels.

Why Doesn’t NCFIT Use Rx vs. Scaled?
Functional fitness has taken the health and wellness world by storm, and for good reason — it’s intense, challenging, and gets results. But one aspect of functional fitness that has been both a blessing and a curse in my life is the Rx vs. Scaled approach to workouts.
On one hand, having a specific prescription for each workout — the weight, the reps, the movements — gives you a clear target to aim for. We all remember the first time we completed a workout as prescribed — no better feeling, right?! That is until you get into class the next day and realize you can’t lift half of the prescribed weight on the board and … we’re back to square one.
How to Use RPE in CrossFit
We are excited to announce that NCFIT will now be using the Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) Scale for every strength and workout portion of the new NCFIT Workout.
RPE is a way to measure the intensity of your workouts based on your own perception of how hard you're working. It's represented on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being very easy and 10 being very hard.

“What’s more important: Genetics or mindset to go on to qualify for the CrossFit Games?”
Transitioning to a Garage or Home Gym
Nothing can compare to the accountability and energy of working out alongside other people in a physical group class. We all tried fitness over Zoom sometime in the past two years and there’s no comparison — taking a class at one of our NCFIT flagship locations in the Bay Area is an unmatched fitness experience.
But most of us also know that when life happens and things get busy, getting to the gym is often one of the first things to go.
So how can you get the most out of your workouts at home with limited equipment, time, and space?
